About the Song

Hacaacii is inspired by a real place where the small river Doganoo flows toward Dhidheesa, surrounded by flat grazing lands, forest edges, wildlife, and the sacred Odaa tree on the hilltop.

The song reflects the emotional pull of returning to a landscape where land, animals, people, and memory are inseparable.

The lyrics express longing, reflection, and the resonance of nature:

Hacaacii keessa nannayyee

Maaf garaan na nanayee

Yoo qalbiin keessa demanii

Bobbasa bushayee kenyaa

Lafaa dheeda lowwannii

Ya qeerransa laga dooganoo

Egaa sif gamte yoonawoo

These lines form a poetic map of Hacaacii — a place where river, hill, forest, and community meet.

Cultural Significance

The song brings forward the invisible indigenous beauty of places like Hacaacii, where:

By combining modern melody with traditional imagery, Hacaacii becomes a sonic preservation of Oromo heritage in the autonomous age.
